Welcome Message

The Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society of the IEEE is pleased to announce this exciting conference prior to SfN in Washington DC. The goal of the meeting is to discuss challenges to laying out the road maps addressing BRAIN grand challenges as have been discussed broadly by the scientific community with particular emphasis on engineering challenges to brain research through advancing innovative neurotechnologies, including but not limited to mapping neural circuits, understanding functional neural dynamics, controlling neural circuits and restoring function. Another goal of the conference is to engage and recognize outstanding young investigators working on innovative BRAIN research.

The conference will consist of keynote and plenary talks from thought leaders from academia, government and industry. All participants are invited to join the interactive panel discussions contributing to the public discussion. A poster session will be organized from selected unsolicited contributions (abstract submissions needed), and from academic and industrial programs on BRAIN related research and education programs. Outstanding young investigators (students, postdocs, assistant professors or equivalent) submitting creative ideas addressing one of the BRAIN grand challenges will be considered for young investigator awards and invited for submission of a full manuscript for consideration in the BRAIN Special Issue of IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering.

We look forward to your active participation in this exciting event.
